first lesson for the sengkang siblings yesterday evening.
another korean&singapore family.
speaking chinese informally is easy but teaching kids chinese is nowhere near easy.
i am there to teach chinese, a k2 boy and a p2 girl. but i realise most of the time, i am speaking english to them. it's really not that my chinese is very bad or very good, i am just average. i can speak well, but i don write or read. typical singaporean, i'd say.
luckily, and thankfully... their textbooks have got han yu pin yin above every sentences. but i can read without the han yu pin yin too, just p2 standards. it's just that i cant 100% speak to them in chinese. such as, "what's your name?", "can you colour this?" etc i cant help but to use english. it all just come out naturally. some times when i speak to them in chinese, they will give me a very stunn-ed look. i guess because they are more korean+english trained. ha.
tough but fun. one hour each (sister first, brother next). time can pass very fast! i must not give up, will take it as a revision for myself too. maybe months later, i can read and write chinese already! faster than anyone, haha kidding.
pms-ing last night. so confuse with the mr project, or maybe i was just too lazy. anyway, hope this time round, everything will be perfectly fine! couldnt sleep last night even though i know i was tired. the reason being, i have pass my sleeping time. tuition again later at 5pm for the pampered korean girl. actually, i do miss her (my playmate)! she's going back to korea soon, for two weeks. sadden-ing (no income for me).
muthu lecturer happily change the saturday lesson to 2pm - 8pm! i have lesson in the morning yet he has his in the afternoon till night time. what a "compatible" timing, and there goes our saturday! poor muthu, poor me. maybe i'll just clash his lecture after my tuition?
exam's round the corner. the p5 lai ang girl has exam on the same day as me (my first paper's on 24/10 and hers is on 26/10), which mean... her mother will throw her more tuition before the papers! that means... i wont have all the time in the world to concentrate on my own exam! arghs! so unlucky!
mooncake's nice.
